CORRUGATED COLLECTION
A love letter to South Africa.
Inspired by the urban landscapes of South Africa–a place where shimmering corrugated metal sheets catch the eye almost everywhere you look. Challenging the common preconceptions of this widely used building material, the collection reimagines the use of corrugated iron, turning it into cherishable objects.
The collection consists of 5 sculptural, yet playful pieces, intended for daily use. At first glance, the items may feel improvised and hasty–simple wave-like scraps, with makeshift seats thrown on top. Everyday objects, never originally destined to be furniture, slapped together at the last second. Almost as if they became pieces of furniture by accident.
Just like the waves of a sheet of corrugated metal provide strength to the material, each piece is shaped by hand, keeping quality and longevity front of mind. As light plays along its undulations, the changing variety of highlights and shadows act as a reminder of both the light and dark aspects that exist within South Africa.
